On Tuesday 16th March we had a céilí with a difference as all the classes learned and performed individual dances instead of group dances.
Fifth Class practicing throwing
In November the children explored the strand of Gymnastics and practised the fundamental movement skill of jumping for height. They practised lots of different balances, animal movements and sequences involving different types of travel, jumps and balances.
The children are very active on yard at lunchtime. They love playing with lots of different PE equipment such as Skipping Ropes, Hoola Hoops, Bean Bags and Balls. They have also learned lots of different playground games. This has helped our children increase their daily physical activity and develop their movement skills.
Senior infants are enjoying using their ball skills in the sunshine.
Well done to all who participated in our 1km Santa Dash on Friday 18th of December in aid of Tír na nÓg Orphanage Tanzania. Thank you for your support.
Over the next three weeks the children in 5th and 6th Classes will take part in the Tri-Heroes programme. This programme will introduce the children to triathlon activities and the concept of transition, which is a very important part of doing a triathlon.
The programme brings together the lifelong activities of swimming, cycling and running to inspire, motivate and challenge children. Tri Heroes is fun, varied, challenging and suitable for all pupils.
At the end of the course each student will get the chance to take part in a duathlon on the school grounds, giving them a sense of accomplishment and allowing them participate in a safe and positive environment. We hope everyone enjoys the programme.
Ardfert got off to a winning start this September as they go in defense of their Allianz Cumann na mBunscol title. In a very competitive outing we overcame the stiff challenge of a spirited O Bréanainn side. Next up is an away game against Spa N.S.
Sixth Class are learning spikeball.
